Why Travel gets me high?

Updated: Aug 11, 2020

Travel. Why should you travel? Tbh its not just about travel. It's about your bucket list. Travelling is just my drug of choice. What's yours? And if its that important to you, why are you putting it off. Since a filled bucket is a metaphor for your life ending, you need to realize that time waits for no one. It just flies past us and we are the ones who get left behind. So before you vaporize into little pieces as Thanos snaps his fingers, you gotta take that leap of faith. To keep it personal I'll focus on travelling :)

“To travel is to live.”― Hans Christian Andersen

The problem with humans is that we tend to create prisons for ourselves and then forget where we put the key. We turn into machines, intransigent about our views, settled within the confines of our learned belief system, the bubble that we never pop. We become not the free souls that the universe conspired us to be with endless possibilities of how we think and do what we do, but unfortunately, we live like the sheep, in herds told to believe and see only what man wants us to see and believe. We can live like this, or we can open our eyes, realize that this simulation is nothing but a game.

Following a routine might be the way to go for some but if we are satisfied with just that, then the story, of what is yet to be told will never be that exciting. In this simulation always keep looking for levelling up, finding new adventures, visiting new places because ultimately that's what will keep you motivated, not a damn routine. It might be difficult to face something this unconventional but remember that even if you lose a life in this game it's all good. You'll just respawn. Just continue and try to put the pieces of present beautifully, working towards that next item to cut off and believe me, you'll get the 'W' in the game of Life with no regrets at the end.

So why should one travel?

The thing about travel is that it's not about crossing those geographical boundaries but it's about the boundaries you have set for yourself. When you lose your path, you get an opportunity to discover a world you have never known! And better worlds are often found this way! People who lose path have a thirst to spend their fire and restless force in tracking out their true, original course.

Real Travel is when you take to the open roads and accept as things come your way. Believe me, as I say but when you travel to places; you understand how little and absolutely minuscule you are and would question your significance in this large world. It'll fill you with humility.

You'll experience the most beautiful moments of your life. You might think of your life as normal but it's you and these other people around you that made it seem normal. You don't get to see the outside the bubble if you don't go out there, explore and travel to the places you have never been to. Trust me you'll have the greatest sensory overloads, even if you break out of that constant grind cycle and go far a vacation even to the most mundane locations around you.

Even if we look at our evolution and history. We humans have been wanderers. Going from place to place. Settling down was never our thing until we found comfort. But getting out of comfort zone is indeed very alluring.

Your probability of being born on this planet is 1:3 Trillion. Isn't that a valid reason to travel considering you just got 70-80 years here on this planet? I mean so many things could have gone wrong and you wouldn't be here.

I feel like a lot of people would not be happy with my views right now and would be thinking that they are indeed very happy with how they are. That's alright because I am not trying to sell you this idea in the sense of converting you to it. I want you to play with it. It's not me who decides how you should live and whether you should travel or not, But all I am trying is opening up new perspectives for you regarding this beautiful place.

OK here's an interesting experiment. Two identical people are given the same work; let's say painting for example, and while one has a day to complete it, others have a week. Which one do you think will turn out better?

Of course the one after a week of time. That's because a lot of time has been spent in perfecting that piece of art. Now think of this Earth as an art piece. Its a result of 4.5 billion years of constant evolution going through harsh phases whether it's being struck by an asteroid or facing the cold age. Whoever built the Earth, whether it was God or the elements of the Universe; a lot of time and effort has been put into the making of Earth. It thus has to be filled with magical things that just don't make sense to us humans. Thus passing into oblivion without feasting your eyes on every bit of this magical land will be a pity.

We all are stuck in this rat race and corporate life, swiping cards to fill the void. Stuck in this routine pattern, how can we be this stubborn. We need to open the door that's in front of us, but we refuse to walk right through because we're being too cautious? We are trapped in a cycle of grind that's glorified to work so hard that we've become blind. All we need is to do is travel more, and trust me it'll change you forever by the core.

Here are the top reasons of why you should travel more often:

1) If you didn't do this what did you even do?

If you never saw the nordic lights, skydived in Dubai, swam with the whale sharks in the Philippines, climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, spotted a white tiger in Afghanistan, rode a Mustang in Cuba, scuba dived in Bali, partied in Spain, skateboarded down the Icelandic highways, cliff jumped in Hawaii, took a holy dip in the Ganges, Varanasi, kayaked in Moraine Lake, Alberta, rode the Trans-Siberian in Russia, road-tripped the West Coast across California. What did you even do in your life?

2) You have the time.

You can’t help but enjoy living in every moment when you’re travelling. You won’t have time to dwell on the past or worry about the future. You'll be carefree. But as you'll grow old the free time will slowly diminish.

3) Happiness

Travelling makes people happier because it makes you grow. Your mind is stretched, your perceptions are challenged, and your perspectives change for the better. Your experiences can define your reality - what better way to shape your life than by experiencing all that the world has to offer?

4) Expand your horizons.

Meeting people from other cultures will teach you that the way you’ve been looking at the world isn’t the way everybody else does. In fact, your point-of-view might have some major blind spots. Seeing the world for yourself will improve your vision and your grip on reality.

5) Challenge Yourself.

Getting your daily latte at the same place and staring at your screen at your nine-to-five every day not nearly interesting enough? While travelling you'll come across various difficult situations, And as you face those challenges, you'll learn more than any education you ever received.

6) Create everlasting memories.

Do not forget to capture the memories. Carry a camera and shoot the trip. Later in life, you can cherish those sweet memories and reminiscence over them. Besides, the experiences that you gain also become exciting stories for people to listen.

7) Make new friends and experience new cultures

Travelling far and wide helps you meet different people from around the world. You’ll get to see things from different perspectives. Meanwhile, travelling opens up your mindset as you are exposed to different mindsets and cultures from different parts of the globe.

8) Grow as a person.

The more you see of the world, the more you’ll realize how it really works. You’ll learn so much about yourself along the way. You might try cooking various cuisines, learn different languages and even acquire various skills from diverse people around the world. You’ll be challenged to figure things out your path along the way and it will ultimately make you a wiser person.

Earth, its an amalgam of views so stupendous, mountains so magnanimous, oceans so infinite, deserts so desolate. I mean I can go on forever. There exist places here which will leave you flabbergasted, that take you out of your comfort zone, Give you a hit that no narcotic can ever feel like. And once you become an addict it'll be the elixir of life.

Take my word, You know it’s time for some adventure when you start looking like the person on your Aadhar Card and 2020 has definitely done that. So save some money and go out and explore the most unbeaten paths. Live the adventure and finish off that bucket list of yours. You'll come back home with a big ol' happy face and a heavy heart. And remember this Earth won't remember you once you are gone, so live a time worthwhile so that you remember every second of it :)
